Kindness Challenge

Pick one day between now and the end of January to try this easy Kindness Challenge. You may find that it is much easier to be kind to other people than it is to be kind to yourself, but with a little practice, you will benefit from the same positive energy that you transmit each time that you are kind to someone. For many of us, at some point in our lives we convinced ourselves that it was selfish to be kind to ourselves. We mistakenly convinced ourselves that we didn't deserve the same positive affirmations that we so effortlessly handed out to others. Let's do something about this! The day before you start your challenge, make sure that you have a journal or notebook and something to write with beside your bed. Immediately upon waking, write down three things that you plan to do to fulfill being kind to OTHERS. These things can be as simple as holding a door for someone or allowing someone to go next at a four-way stop. Next, write down three things that you plan to do to fulfill being kind to YOURSELF. A little tougher-I get it-but I believe in you! Your intention is to follow through with these six things. At the end of the day, take a few minutes to ask yourself how it went. Taking notes is helpful because as you progress with this practice, you may want to look back at where you started. Once you realize that it is just as easy to be kind to yourself as it is to be kind to others, it will come much more naturally and those feelings of guilt or selfishness for doing something for yourself will vanish. I'm looking forward to hearing about your experiences! #sagehavenkindnesschallenge
